Vet on GOP Shutdown of the Government
Redge Ranyard is featured in a powerful ad taking congressional Republicans to task for the shuttered government and its impact on veterans. The 90-year-old World War II Navy veteran was ticked off by a comment House Speaker John Boehner made nearly two weeks ago. According to the New York Times story that got Ranyard’s blood boiling, Boehner told his raucous caucus mere days after the start of the shutdown, “We are locked in an epic battle.” In his response on behalf of VoteVets.org, Ranyard doesn’t mince words.
I was in six epic battles, fighting the Nazis….. Your shutdown is not an epic battle. It’s bad governance. Americans and American Veterans like me depend on the entire government being open. I served this nation with honor. Today, I can’t say the same about most Republicans in Congress.

Confederate Flag <----> White Supremacy

Those Teabaggers showed their racist roots by flaunting their Confederate flag. The Confederate flag is a symbol of white supremacy; it's a flagrant provocation when unfurled in front of the home of blacks, in this case the first black president of the United States and his family. Tea Party is the new KKK.
Veterans Slam Tea Party Politicians For Hijacking Protest Against War Memorial Closures
On the Million Vet March homepage, the organizers suggest a local organizer invited Tea Party and birther groups against the wishes of the veterans:
The political agenda put forth by a local organizer in Washington DC was not in alignment with our message. We feel disheartened that some would seek to hijack the narrative for political gain. The core principle is about all Americans honoring Veterans in a peaceful and apolitical manner.
The organizers say they are simply calling for war memorials to stay open at all times and disowned the “disheartening acts of a few powerful Washington elite and political extremists jumping on the opportunity to make money.” On their Facebook page, they blamed “certain groups that have piggy-backed off our grassroots efforts” for obscuring their message. “We made the mistake of trying to partner with some Washington insiders that thwarted many of our genuine concerns for keeping this apolitical and grassroots. While we support many of those groups common causes for Veterans, we do not support the manner in which they go about it. We chose instead to not incite or create panic.”

Hiding behind veterans is an old right wing ploy. Nobody abuses veterans more, or has less respect for them, than Republicans, especially teabaggers. This is the typical hypocritical cowardice of the conservative movement, and their plummeting numbers are an indication of thier weak and sordid tactics.

As a Veteran, I'm not fooled one bit by this age-old ploy to convince the uninformed members of the country who's to blame. It's sickening, after seeing my VA benefits for school stopped due to the shutdown, that Tea Party members and others who meticulously planned the shutdown (Cruz, S. King, Congressman Randy Neugebauer, M. Bachmann, and others) racing to the Veteran memorials to make sure their image is saved from their own actions, even to the point of shifting blame to others with hopes that the uninformed won't do their research or pay enough attention to think for themselves. It's despicable. My service to this country was not so people can take away the lives of others, then point their finger at someone else for not "negotiating" with their extreme demands. They know what they did, and they have the safe districts of loyal uninformed voters to keep them in their jobs (while others lose their jobs and their lives).
