A sombre ceremony has taken place in the Dutch city of Eindhoven, with the arrival of the first bodies of victims of the Malaysian passenger plane shot down over Ukraine.
After a minute silence, observed across the country, and a trumpet salute, some 40 coffins were taken off military aircraft that arrived from Ukraine.

Two aircraft carrying the remains of some of the 298 passengers who died on flight MH17 touched down at an airport in the Dutch city of Eindhoven on Wednesday,as next-of-kin and Dutch and foreign officials looked on.
The remains of the victims of the downing of the flight over eastern Ukraine, 193 of whom were Dutch, will be brought over the next few days to a military base in Hilversum, the Netherlands.
Experts will work to put names to the bodies, a process that could take months.

Ukrainian officials have paid respect to the 298 people who lost their lives when Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 was downed on July 17.
At the airport in Kharkiv, some 50 coffins were laid out, in preparation for the flight to the Netherlands. Upon arrival, forensics experts will begin what promises to be a lengthy identification process.
Up to five days after the tragedy, human remains could still be seen at the crash site, according to a representative of the OSCE European security watchdog.

Chính phủ Hà Lan tuyên bố lễ truy điệu toàn quốc trong lúc nước này chờ máy bay hạ cánh.
Vụ máy bay rơi hôm thứ năm giết chết tất cả 298 người trên máy bay, phần lớn là người Hà Lan.

Tại Moscow, Tổng thống Nga Vladimir Putin hôm qua hứa làm mọi việc trong khả năng của ông để đ̣i phiến quân ly khai kiểm soát địa điểm máy bay rơi cho phép tiến hành một cuộc điều tra đầy đủ về thảm họa này.
Tuy nhiên, ông Putin nói thêm rằng những nỗ lực như vậy sẽ không thỏa đáng nếu không có thêm những áp lực đ̣i chính phủ Ukraine chấm dứt những hoạt động thù địch.
